Welcome to Ashby Concert Band
This year Ashby Concert Band is celebrating its 20th Anniversary. The band was formed way back in 1996 and was originally known by the name Staunton Wind Orchestra (SWO). The change of name to Ashby Concert Band came about in 2004 when the band moved from its original home of Breedon-on-the-Hill to Ashby. In 1996, under the directorship of the original Musical Director, Lauren Fasci, the band's membership totalled around 20 players. The current Director of Music, Adrian Ashton, took over the baton at the end of 1998 when the membership was just 25 players. Now the band boasts a membership of over 50 players and is one of the leading concert bands in the East Midlands.
In October we will be performing our main anniversary concert of the year, and what a night of music it promises to be! The music will be drawn from a selection of the band members favourite pieces plus a few first performance pieces selected by the Director of Music.
In November we will once again be performing our annual concert in support of the RBL Annual Poppy Appeal, and then before we know it Christmas will be upon us and our annual Christmas concert will bring our anniversary year to a conclusion.
